“He has been aggressive only to protect his players. The current players will enjoy it. He does not get angry without reason. I am sure that whenever needed, he will act strictly. His such attitude will be only to get the best performance from the players. “
Karthik also pointed out that Gambhir does not have experience of coaching in Test cricket, which could worry him as he prepares for his first challenge for the series against Bangladesh in Chennai on Thursday.
“He has been part of many T20 tournaments. But this Test series will be completely new for him as a coach and that must be on his mind,” Karthik said.
“He is someone who has overcome difficult situations. He has the acumen to understand the pulse of the game, which is very important as a coach. He is still in his early days as a coach, so it will be interesting to see how he progresses. However, I am confident that he will do well in all aspects. So far, things have been going well for him.”
